Comrade Men Xam An, the deputy vice-prime minister, called on three fleeing villagers involved in the uprooting of border stakes to return back home to reunite with their family and continue their daily live as normal. She claimed that they will not be prosecuted because they were only cheated and they did what they were ordered to do only (sic!). Comrade Men Xam An issued this call while presiding over a meeting to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the 07 January victory [and the subsequent occupation of Cambodia by Big Brother Vietnam] which was held on 03 January 2010 in Chantrea district, Svay Rieng province. Comrade Men Xam An told the villagers: “Please do not believe the cheating tricks by the opposition on the border problem, they don’t share your pain. Those who share your pain is the ruling CPP that is led by Samdach Dek Cho Hun Xen as PM, he will not lose any land belonging to the people. So don’t worry and be calm, don’t believe their incitation.”
